Help tackling the challenges of life

Ohel’s staff provides strategies and therapies that enable adults and children to cope with everyday problems like stress and anxiety and offers intensive support to people confronting more serious mental health diagnoses.

We believe that quality mental health treatment should be accessible to all. Our integrated care approach addresses the entire individual: both mental and physical health. In addition to counseling, our expanded services now include health screenings, case management, peer support services, and 24 hour crisis support.

Housing
With three levels of supportive and supervised housing, plus a short-term respite program, we provide rehabilitation for people recovering from psychiatric challenges. Our goal is to help our patients live as independently as they can.

24-Hour Supervised Residences
With full-time, onsite supervision, we maintain a supportive environment where adults can recover from psychiatric disabilities. Socialization, day programs, and employment opportunities are tailored to meet each person’s needs. In this transitional housing, residents learn how to manage their symptoms and structure their time, practicing basic skills like taking a shower and holding a conversation.

Apartment Treatment
Patients in this program reside in well-appointed apartments throughout New York City. Case managers visit several times per week to provide them with guidance and one-on-one support for managing their day-to-day lives.

Supportive Housing
Patients who are responsible and able to care for their own daily needs receive visits from case managers once per month. They call on their case managers as needed for help with questions and challenges they face.

The Lodge
Community members who need a short-term break from a difficult or dangerous situation at home can stay in this crisis respite housing for up to two weeks. This solution can help them avoid inpatient care at a hospital or ease their reentry into normal life after leaving a psychiatric hospital stay.
